The development of the Kamoa-Kakula copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), the Platreef palladium-rhodium-platinum-nickel-copper-gold discovery in South Africa, the extensive redevelopment and upgrading of the historic Kipushi zinc-copper-germanium-silver mine, also in the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploration on the Western Foreland, near Kamoa-Kakula.

As a Compliance Specialist, you will be staying ahead of regulations globally, establishing robust controls and procedures for compliance across all jurisdictions. Supporting Corporate governance and refining policies, ensure integrity across our group and subsidiaries, ensuring regulatory excellence in every facet of your operations.

Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized South African University is essential.
  • 5+ years experience in a legal and compliance role within a medium to large multinational firm with operations in South Africa, Africa and abroad.
  • Mining, or similar industry experience
Minimum advanced skills and knowledge in:

  • Ethical conduct and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English,
  • Familiarity with pertinent legislation's technical aspects
Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

Process
  • Develop and implement a compliance process in line with generally accepted compliance practice.
  • Implement a compliance monitoring programme to identify and improve areas of compliance weakness and to ensure that there are adequate controls in place.
  • Design and implement a regulatory universe and monitor and update when required.
  • Ensure that regulatory compliance in the Group gets the necessary attention it needs.
  • Develop a Group compliance framework which aligns to the Group risk management framework. Design and lead a strong compliance culture in the business by effectively communicating to relevant stakeholders.
  • Create and manage effective compliance action plans and conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues.
  • Implement action plans to deal with non-compliance issues.
  • Verify that all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated.
  • Provide compliance assurance to the relevant management teams, group risk management committee, audit committee or social, ethics and risk committee through detailed reports.
  • Provide update/training to employees on latest regulatory updates affecting compliance.
