To strengthen our Engineering team in Cape Town, were recruiting a
CAD Designer
Position Purpose
The Designer is responsible for making and modifying all technical drawings. Together with the Engineer and/or the Engineering Manager, this person designs new products and accessories with specific attention towards quality, cost and manufacturability. Additional to these tasks, the CAD Designer plays a supporting role towards production and other departments.
Principal Accountabilities
Technical drawings
- On instruction from engineer / manager, makes and modifies all drawings for incoming orders to meet the order requirements
- Generates BOMs, production and customer drawings
- Manages the CAD library
- Completes files which contain all necessary technical information on our products
- Makes all drawings and BOMs
- Guides and supports shop employees during assembling and testing of prototypes
- Sets up the CAD libraries for all required options and accessories
- Supports order processing in drawing activities such as Certified Prints, Submittal drawings, CAD libraries, manufacturing drawings and dxfs
- Applies knowledge and experience in special projects with specific focus on efficiency improvements and quality improvements.
- Thorough understanding of Sheetmetal design
- +5 years relevant experience in similar sector
- 2D and 3D design software (Inventor /AutoCAD preferred)
- Parametric modeling, design new and maintain existing 3D parametric models
- MS Office
- Relevant Draughtsman qualification
- Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice
- Knowledge of Vault advantageous
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexible mindset.
