Advanced Construction workers should have 3-5 years of experience in the construction field or in a related area. Employees can also advance to this position if they have obtained a related NCCER certification, or if they have completed a related program through an accredited technical school. Individual should be knowledgeable of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field.
They rely heavily on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks and work under limited supervision. These individuals may be required to lead and direct the work of others at limited capacity if the Foreman is not available. They may transfer from one task to another as they are directed. Generally, these employees are able to perform all types of construction tasks and have a much broader base of knowledge than a Construction employee. They are required to assist with maintaining tools and equipment, and perform various cleanup and housekeeping activities. They observe and follow all safety rules and procedures set forth. These employees report to a Foreman, General Foreman, or Project Manager.
