Purpose Of The Job
To manage a team of consultants to ensure execution of services strategy, to generate income from portfolio allocated and to contribute to the profitability for the branch and Alexander Forbes; by providing a professional, quality service and consulting advice to clients; client satisfaction, retention and expansion; through co-ordinating all internal and external contacts; keeping abreast of developments in industry, generating new business for the branch, whilst ensuring at all times that Alexander Forbes standards are maintained.

Key performance areas
- Manages and coordinates activities of personnel involved in performing internal operations in department or functional area of a financial institution.
- Manages a portfolio of clients and a team of consultants servicing the portfolio.
- Manages office workflow system, incorporating use of data processing and computer hardware options.
- Prepares work schedules and assigns duties to operations personnel to ensure efficient operation of functional area.
- Reporting via required and special reports on operating functions of department or branch.
- Directs employee training to improve efficiency and ensure conformance to standard procedures and practices.
- Risk awareness and the management of risk is of vital importance in the position.
- Maintain and service a portfolio of clients in your team in order to add value to the client, and to achieve client satisfaction, whilst being ultimately responsible and accountable for the managing of the client portfolio
- Provide advice pertaining to medical schemes and other products
- Compile and agree on year plan with each client
- Act as the interface between member and client, as well as between client and other internal departments
- Ensure delivery of service level agreements to team client portfolio
- Keep client updated with developments in the employee benefit market.
- Conducting presentations and workshops for Board of directors, members, clients, employees
- Maintaining ongoing relationships with all clients
- Following up queries and resolving problems of clients, members and pensioners
- Daily communication and correspondence with clients, both formal and informal
- Ensuring timeous response of client queries and requests within the team
- Maintaining existing client base.
- Ongoing client contact and interaction
- Liaising with medical schemes, service providers and other external parties when necessary
- Keeping abreast of all industry developments / self-development
- Managing the entire process of workflow within the portfolio
- Ensure delivery of service and commitments to the client
- Building maintaining a trust relationship with client and key stakeholders
- Remaining client focused at all times
- Self: Displays self-awareness and insight into areas of strength and development
- Remain abreast of new innovations and technologies in the HealthCare industry
- Team: Sets, communicates and implements development plans for subordinates and assesses performance for direct reports
- Provides honest & timely feedback on delivery, areas of strength and areas for improvement
- Drives high performance culture: manage team performance and holds them accountable for results
- Act as mentor/coach to facilitate improved employee engagement
- Ensuring teams compliance requirements are consistently met and internal training is attended
- Attending strategic meetings of clients and chairing if asked to do so by client
- Attending meetings of teams clients, where necessary
- Overall responsibility for ensuring the standard of agenda packs, minutes and consulting advice is maintained within the team
- Attending other ad hoc meetings
- Acquiring new business and expanding client base expanding services and products provided to the client
- Internal co-ordination and liaison to ensure ultimate client service and attainment of client objectives
- Delegation and instruction to internal departments
- Liaison and communication with internal departments on issues pertaining the client especially where client is shared
- Drafting and circulation of minutes to other departments
- Assessing and implementing more effective operational systems, methods, and resources in assisting other departments to be more operationally effective
- Liaising with administration department regarding withdrawals, retirement, death and benefit statements
- Ensuring tasks are completed to satisfaction
- Monitoring and follow up of instructions and information requests
- Ongoing reviewing and management of teams wellness funds.
- Ensuring teams expenses are managed
- Generating optimal income for the branch
- Ensuring budgets are met within cost constraints
- Implementing and assessing action plans towards attaining budgets and targets set
- Relevant Bachelors Degree or equivalent
- FAIS compliant and accredited (Representative) KI an added advantage
- 7 - 10 years related experience, of which at least 3 years must be in a management capacity
- Strong knowledge of Healthcare Industry
- Strong knowledge of Medical Schemes Act, relevant Health Insurance Acts, FAIS and related legislation
- Strong knowledge of Client Services
- Thorough understanding of the operational and strategic business requirements aligned to the region and client portfolios
- Ability to multi-task and delegate where appropriate
- Strong business acumen
- Strong client Service Orientation and ability to interact with clients
- 5 - 7 years experience, in client servicing, consulting, or managing a portfolio of clients, and at least 4 in a People/Team Management role.
