Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Legal Contracts Management, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Provide input into legal policies and monitor the impact of external factors.
- Conduct research on relevant standards, laws, regulations and applicable prescripts to ensure compliance.
- Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
- Implement relevant policies, processes, standards and controls for contract management.
- Review standard contracts frequently to ensure compliance with changes in corporate strategy, category strategies and legislative requirements.
- Support category managers and business with contract negotiations during supplier and commercial tendering.
- ensure compliance to contracts policies and procedures.
- Support the contract termination process and perform termination activities in the system.
- Monitor contractor compliance against Service Level Agreements (SLA's), commercial contracts and construction contracts.
- Serve as a point of contact and provide guidance to customers on contractual matters.
- Identify legal risks and devise mitigation strategies to address risks.
- Monitor that appropriate courses of action have been taken where legal risks have been identified.
- Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to the business and stakeholders.
- Serve as a point of contact to all business units and support capabilities with contract compliance-related issues.
- Ensure remedial actions are implemented timeously to address non-conformances.
- Build, support and maintain healthy, diverse internal and external relationships to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
- Provide legal advice/opinion and participate in the Tender Preparation and Evaluation Committee (TPEC), Central Bid Adjudication Committees (CBAC), and National Bid Adjudication Committee (NBAC).
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
- Bachelors degree (3 years 360 credits) NQF 7 in Law or equivalent legal qualification is essential.
- Bachelors degree (4 years - 480 credits) NQF 8 in LLB is advantageous.
- 6 - 8 years Legal Practice/Contract Management or relevant experience is essential.
- Microsoft Office at Intermediate Level

Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide proof of their qualifications, NQF level and credits, and must be eligible for Top Security Clearance within 3 months of appointment.
