What You'll Do
As a Corporate Accountant, you will be at the heart of our finance department, playing a crucial role in ensuring our accounting and tax operations run smoothly. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting the Corporate Controller with various tasks, maintaining an organised accounting filing system, ensuring accurate cost allocations, performing monthly variance analyses, reviewing account balances, preparing comprehensive financial reports, assisting with budget preparation and forecasting, calculating budget variances, and assisting with audits. Your meticulous attention to detail will be key in this role as you work towards enhancing our financial accuracy and compliance.
- Support the Corporate Controller with any ad-hoc tasks that might be required
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system on the server to support accounting entries
- Ensure accurate allocations of below gross margin costs
- Perform variance analyses monthly on below gross margin costs
- Review the accuracy of the accounts payable and receivable balances
- Confirm all intercompany loan balances
- Prepare timely and complete financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant variances to the Corporate Controller
- Assist with internal and external audits
The ideal candidate for this Corporate Accountant position brings a wealth of experience in accounting, particularly within a corporate setting. You are a Chartered Accountant with post-article experience under your belt. Your understanding of Company Act and direct/indirect taxes is solid, and you have hands-on experience with SARS E-filing. Your skills in drafting financial statements in Caseware are well-honed, and your knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting is extensive. You're adept at divisional reporting and monitoring, variance analyses, and budget vs actual reporting. Your proficiency in using Microsoft Excel to analyse large data sets will be a significant asset in this role.
- Chartered Accountant with 1 to 2 years post article experience
- Experience and understanding of Company Act and direct/indirect taxes is required
- Experience on SARS E-filing is critical (loading of VAT, Income Tax, extracting reports)
- Experience in drafting financial statements in Caseware is required
- Experience in IFRS and financial reporting is non-negotiable
- Experience in divisional reporting and monitoring
- Experience in variance analyses and budget vs actual reporting
- Experience using Microsoft Excel as a functional tool to analyse large data
