JUNIOR MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT / COST ACCOUNTANT
The ideal candidate will have exposure to management accounting, payroll, financial accounting, product costing, job costing, bill of materials, budgeting, time studies and project management.
Candidate must have strong understanding of accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill financial accounting generalist role in finance and admin team able to assist in processing of purchase orders, goods received vouchers, supplier invoices, sales orders, customer invoices, cash book, general ledger journals, month end reconciliations and expense variance analysis.
- Management of stock control systems, job travel card reviews and work in progress to ensure optimal stock levels
- Manage acquisition payment cycle, policy and procedure from purchase requisition to GRV processing stage
- Manage customer credit control policy and procedure from sales order to delivery stage
- Compile costing model to determine all-inclusive cost per finished product
- Ensure time studies are recorded in detail to determine variable labour cost
- Ensure all direct material costs and indirect consumable costs are correctly allocated per manufactured unit
- Participate in project and production planning meetings
- Analyze expense variances to forecasted cost estimates
- Engage with manufacturing managers to develop sound costing allocation principles
- Weekly project cost life to date reporting
- Advise on challenges, suggest improvements and provide solutions
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Proven experience as financial accountant, junior management accountant, cost accountant or similar role (ability to be a generalist across all functions of the business)
- Strong payroll experience, preferably SAGE VIP
- Excellent knowledge of financial accounting, cost accounting and variance reporting
- Working knowledge of financial software and MS Office
- Analytical mind with aptitude in practical math
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A problem-solver with attention to detail
- Fluent in English (fluency in Afrikaans is advantageous)
- Compulsory National Higher Diploma Cost Accounting or Financial Accounting
- Preferred - BCom / BTech Accounting or Management Accounting
