Job description:
About the role: Our ideal candidate is a newly qualified CA(SA) or CIMA whom through articles has had exposure to banking or financial services. In this role you will be required to provide commercial analytical support to business decision makers, through your analysis of financial and non-financial data and identifying opportunities to improve financial outcomes and hold product heads accountable for their cost structures and their return generated thereon. You will also be responsible for establishing and running a fully functional activity-based costing (ABC) models and setting the internal transfer pricing strategy.
What you will bring:
A completed degree in commerce; Management Accounting/Financial Management/Financial Accounting. Along with exposure to Activity Based Costing, Budgeting, Forecasting and Performance Management, Financial Modelling and Data Manipulation.
Ideally you also have:
CA(SA) or CIMA designation with knowledge of Business Banking and Power BI skills.
What you will be doing:
Modelling:
Drive the utilisation of costing and profitability information throughout the company.
Support the design, build and maintenance of the cost model
Report/Model:
o Financial & non-financial actuals/forecasts to support decision-making.
o Value Extraction: Trend analysis & insights, identify opportunities and measure value shifts.
o Dashboards: Build, maintain improve and automate dashboards to provide always on, always available business analytics.
o Performance Management: Competitor/Market analysis and benchmarking, budgeting/variance analysis, and resource optimisation.
o Driver Analysis: Mix and shape changes and impact of behaviour/product change.
o Ongoing Development: Enhance data frameworks & further develop tools/models to improve understanding of shifting business landscape and financial outcomes.
o Insights: Support the delivery of business insights with a focus on collecting, managing, analysing, visualising data, developing analytical solutions and finding patterns.
o Support in maintaining and continuously improving the Activity Based Cost (ABC) model across multiple dimensions, keeping it relevant and up to date and improving transparency.
Business Engagement to:
Develop relationships with decision-makers, clarifying business challenges, current priorities and strategic intent to maximise our value to them and deepen accountability of outcomes.
Ongoing Assessment: Model inputs, drivers & assumptions are critically assessed, remaining relevant & accurate (regular feedback loop).
Provide insights to reduce profitability leakage and improve cost allocation.
Provide input on pricing and assist in cost/benefit assessment, modelling and business cases.
Provide timeous and impactful ad-hoc data points to the business as required.
