The CSIR C3 (SOC) Ltd has a vacancy for a Senior Investment Manager. The successful incumbent will collaborate with the Managing Director to architect and execute a comprehensive investment strategy for CSIR C3 (SOC) Ltd while driving value creation and aligning with the organisations strategic vision. The Incumbent will provide strategic insights and recommendations to support the Managing Director in developing and executing a comprehensive investment strategy for CSIR C3 Enterprise, focused on driving value creation and aligning with the organisations strategic vision. The incumbent will orchestrate all financial aspects of CSIR C3s commercialisation investments, meticulously managing the portfolio to optimise returns and mitigate risks within a dynamic market environment. The successful incumbent will proactively source, rigorously assess, and strategically manage high-potential investment opportunities within the innovation ecosystem, focusing on start-ups demonstrating promise for commercialisation. The incumbent will champion the growth of high-potential commercialisation initiatives, providing strategic guidance and financial acumen and leveraging resources to accelerate their trajectory towards market success. This position is based in Pretoria.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment Strategy Development: Lead and shape the investment strategy through in-depth analysis of market trends, industry landscapes, and internal resources. Ensure alignment with CSIR C3's strategic goals and risk tolerance.
- Investment Process Management: Design and implement investment process frameworks that optimise efficiency and decision-making, balancing rigour and agility.
- Asset Allocation: Identify and prioritise high-potential commercialisation opportunities among CSIR technologies. Conduct market analysis and technical due diligence to build a pipeline aligned with investment goals.
- Financial Management: Lead complex capital investment processes, integrating multidisciplinary analyses to drive informed decision-making. Develop and implement robust financial and risk models to guide investment decisions.
- Team Leadership: Identify, recruit, and manage a team to support CSIR C3s investment activities. Lead overall performance management initiatives for the investment team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Drive collaboration and alignment with key CSIR players, sector/industry stakeholders, and other NSI players. Establish and cultivate a network of entrepreneurs and investors to facilitate the advancement of CSIR technologies.
- Governance and Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to CSIR C3 policies and ethical standards. Develop risk profiles and corresponding mitigation plans for all investment activities.
- An honours degree in corporate finance or a degree in science or engineering supplemented with a recognised financial qualification at degree level with a minimum of 6 years experience at management level and 10 years experience of in deal structuring and financial investments
- CFA/ MBA or other recognised qualification in business
- Demonstrated track record in investment/capital markets.
- Track record in financial analysis and forecasting.
