Country People Manager - Zambia & Angola

Human Resources (HR) comprises advice, services, and solutions in the areas of human resources management (e.g. total rewards, learning, talent acquisition & development, mobility) and organisation (e.g. leadership, organisational development, diversity).

Subfamily Description

Covers support of business in all HR topics like performance, talent or change management, organisation development and effectiveness, or workforce management, including operational HR activities. Contains management of employee and labour relations programmes to ensure compliance with policies and practices. Comprises representation of the organisation in contract negotiations with labour unions and the administration of collective bargaining agreements and grievances.

Responsibilities
  • Act as company representative in country or site, both towards internal stakeholders (such as the Country Management Team, senior managers, employees and employee representatives) and external entities (such as government, universities, court), in order to provide trustful guidance on people matters
  • Act as a partner contributing with a country or site view, towards managers, employees and other internal HR team members, in order to promote decision making that is fair and considers the overall impact in the country or site
  • Working as part of the HR team, take ownership of country or site related topics and successfully deliver commercially focused, client-responsive solutions whilst ensuring compliance with local policy and legislation
  • Provide support to the line managers, both according to the Nokia procedures, as well as in line with the business demands, in order to guarantee similar support and impact among all employees
  • Responsible for managing industrial relationships associated with relevant site/country
  • Advise stakeholders (internal or external) about the frame of local legislation, proactively raise eventual constraints and mitigation to be considered, in order to ensure compliance in the implementation of Nokias management decisions
  • Drive local policy on disciplinary and grievance and other matters, coordinating the necessary steps of these processes in coordination with stakeholders, in order to guarantee compliant decision making
  • Promote, drive and monitor HR projects within the country or site (e.g., employees engagement strategy for the country, employees benefits package, culture and values), in order to contribute for leveraging employees engagement and the branding of the company within the country or site
  • Serves as point of contact to labour and government regulatory agencies
  • Provides advice and coaching to line managers in a Country according to established HR policies and procedures to enable people management topics.
  • Leading country HR initiatives and taking care of all people leadership and management responsibilities, expressing, driving and promoting companys culture and values;
  • Networking with the BG HR organisation in the Region/Global.
  • Take responsibility and execute on all employee related administration activities.
Required Skills

You have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or similar.
  • At least 10 years experience in HR, 5 years in unionized environment and 3 years experience a mid management role.
  • Excellent knowledge of local labour legislation and people processes
  • Certified as HR Practitioner by the Zambian Institute for Human Resource Management.
It would be nice if you also had:
  • Experience in the telecoms sector with a multinational
  • Experience in dealing with complex situations and multiple internal and external stakeholders
