Your Role and Responsibilities
Tax compliance
- Continuously monitor corporate tax legislation changes and address impact for the company.
- Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of direct/indirect Review VAT returns prepared by CoE. Supervise tax authority audits/correspondence. Identify areas for process improvement /VAT savings. Provide support and updates to the business on all indirect tax matters including system changes such as ierp implementationstax returns and payments and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms prepared by external advisors
- Maintain effective control over all aspects of the tax process.
- Reviewing SARS correspondence, addressing and SARS queries
- Timely identifying possible exposures and risk areas, report them and provide solutions to mitigate potential risks areas
- Support the Transfer Pricing Group in preparing TP documentation
- Support the global IDT team
- Review and assist with the preparation of timely, accurate and efficient calculation of the monthly, quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provision for IBMs South Africa entities, both current and deferred taxes.
- Review Tax Disclosures for the Financial Statements.
- Assist with monitoring tax risks provisions (FIN48), cash tax position and effective tax rate.
- Assist with various SOX related compliance matters.
- Review internal tax reports prepared by the Direct Tax CoE
- Assist with improving the tax reporting and tax compliance process.
- Assist finance and other departments with tax related questions
- Work with the wider Tax team to support ad-hoc projects and partner with other functions in complex projects
- Support the business
- Support M&A activity
- Support tax audits (external and internal)
- Support Regional Manager in specific projects/issues in Africa region
- Ability to DEAL with SARS and senior management in IBM (CFO, business, ..)
- Tertiary Qualification in Finance
- 5 + years' experience in Tax
- Completed TOPP/TIPP Articles
