Gibela Rail Transport Consortium invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Artisan: CBS Mainline role. The successful candidate will be based in Dunnottar, Nigel. This role reports to the EPU Manager.

Purpose of the Job:
The incumbent will fulfill the necessary requirements within the organization and meet the objectives with regards to production requirements including but not limited to training of operators, supervising of artisans, dealing with shopfloor production related escalations and providing support to EPU Managers.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Assembles coaches, sub-assemblies, and accessories, as required for the assigned process.
- Prepares work to be performed by studying work instructions, manufacturing document specifications, and BOM, gathering necessary tools and materials.
- Resolves assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
- Carries out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and
- Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; reporting for repairs to EPU Manager.
- Coaches and Mentors Operator, trainees, learners, and other direct report in the station.
- Reworks and/or repairs assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes and recommendations as per provided rework procedure.
- Maintains expected progress of tasks per station as per Task sequence and communicate blocking points to the EPU Manager.
- Verifies conditions of the completed tasks in the process by completing self-inspection and other relevant tasks documents.
- Utilizes a variety of procedures, manuals, drawings, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and components.
- Works or assists in other departments to balance workloads and to meet schedule priorities. Assist in other non-production areas as may be required by supervision or management.
- Use critical tools such as torque wrenches to adjust parts and equipment, or install parts and equipment, following established work instructions.
- Ensures all quality control documentation (check lists& self-inspection.) are timeously completed and up to date as a verifies of the completed tasks in the station.
- Maintains high standards of housekeeping and implement 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) on an allocated workstation.
- Perform Level U responsibilities
- Respect the standards.
- Influence the SQDC KPI
- Deal with deviations (escalations, describe, rework when possible)
- Capability to coordinate and manage the role change.
- Conducting on -the-job training for artisans, apprentices and operators
- Investigating unresolved and recurring product defects.
- Attending to equipment safety and station safety.
- Conducting quality control inspections on work carried out.
- Participate in problem solving and investigations
- Complete risk assessments , hand-over reports and conduct tool box talks.
- Singing of on-job competence on the ILOU matrix.
- Grade 12 or N3
- N4 will be an added advantage
- Relevant Trade Qualification
- Minimum 5 years Artisan experience, with 4 years achieved in Gibela
