After successfully securing a 45million investment to fuel our ongoing growth and to further invest in our AI products, we are currently building looking to hire a Credit Controller in Cape Town.
The Credit Controller is key to managing Napiers receivables, ensuring the timely collection of payments, and supporting financial health by optimizing cash flow. This role will also offer growth into revenue and billing management, eventually involving full-cycle revenue ownership, including invoicing, revenue recognition, and cross-functional process improvements.
What you'll be doing: Credit Controller
- Invoice Management: Monitor outstanding invoices, follow up on unpaid accounts, and ensure timely customer payments.
- Collections: Proactively manage collections to maintain consistent cash flow.
- Customer Communication: Issue monthly statements and overdue reminders.
- Credit Risk Management: Track customer payment behaviour, adjusting credit terms as necessary to mitigate risk.
- Escalation to Legal: Escalate unresolved accounts to the legal team after repeated follow-ups.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies by collaborating with relevant departments.
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Coordinate with finance to ensure accurate cash receipt forecasts, adjusting as receivables change.
- Aging Reports: Prepare detailed reports of outstanding invoices, aging balances, and overdue accounts for management.
- Credit Assessments: Evaluate the creditworthiness of new customers by analysing financial history and credit reports.
- Customer Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with customers while enforcing payment terms.
- Compliance: Ensure credit management aligns with company policies and legal requirements.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, accurate records of all communications, agreements, and payment histories.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve credit control processes and collection rates.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Customer Success and Sales teams to resolve disputes or issues affecting payments.
- Automation Initiatives: Support system updates and identify opportunities for automating tasks like invoicing, reminders, and tracking
- Bachelors degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in credit control or a similar role, preferably within a global SaaS company or technology sector.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and credit management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to handle pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- High organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in NetSuite and advanced Excel skills (preferred).
