The CEM trading desk in Cape Town focuses on trading South African and Sub-Sahara African currencies, government bonds and interest rate products with trading capabilities in the broader EM region.
Though Cape Town based, this role would provide the opportunity to build a global network. Much of the business is sourced from the global franchise so the role involves considerable interaction with sales teams, traders and clients outside of South Africa. As such, you will have an opportunity to compete and perform on a global standard.
Job Responsibilities
You would be expected to support a senior trader in the following:
- Providing cover pricing and information to clients
- Managing client-sourced risk in the senior trader's absence
- Ordering entry and electronic price provision with a high degree of precision and adaptability
- Developing and implementing trading strategies
- Support the desk in a variety of control functions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, postgraduate degree preferre d
- Global Markets experience and acute awareness of current drivers of global markets and how they might evolve
- Trading experience is preferred
- Ability to work quickly and accurately sometimes under high degrees of pressure
- Ability to focus attention in the face of multiple distractions
- Fluency in English
