I have vast experiance in the Mining industry, both National and International. I have worked in both Coal, Platinum mines and Manganese mines, underground and opencast mining. The last 4 and a half years I have worked in the processing plant on a Manganese Mine During the time I did various courses in the safety and also worked as a safety officer and relieved as a Chief Safety Officer on many occassions. I was also a Safety Manager on a Billion Dollar Mining Project in Zimbabwe on a Platinum Mine which we built Currently I am working as a Genderal Engineering Superintendant (2.6.1 appointment) in the Norhtern Cape in Kathu, where I have been relieving as Engineering Manager on several occassions as well, caarying a 2.13.6 appointment I am responsible for the Planning, Maintaining, Supervission, safety and control over budget in the Engineering department. Also responsible for all Projects and Capital Projects on the mine, being the Owner of these projects. In the last 9 years I worked as a General Engineering Supervisor/Superintendant On Modikwa Platinum Mine in the Burgersfort area, I got vast experience in the Safety Field where I started as a Safety Officer and then later worked as a Standards Officer where I was responsible for drafting standards, procedures and document control for both the underground and plant operations. Being in the safety department I was also responsible for compiling training documents for relevant fields in the mining industry, train people in risk assessment, conducting risk assessments, conduct induction training and ensuring compliance to the Mine Health and Safety Act, which also included statutory inspections. I am well experienced in accident/ incident investigastion, various enquieries llike Fatal, Reportable enquieries and Section 54 presentations. My strong part in Safety is definately with Procedures, Standards and Risk Assessments
