I am applying for the position of Boilermaker with Transnet. After viewing the responsibilities and skills needed in your posting, I believe that I am qualified to fill this position.
I have a Boilermaker NQF level 4 and a trade test certificate and I have completed my apprenticeship program where I gained hands on experience making boilers. I know how to use all of the hand and power tools needed in this profession efficiently and I have the desire and determination to be one of the best in this field.
I know how to read blueprints and how to precisely measure and cut the materials used to the desired measurements. I have experience bending and welding pieces into shape without distorting the materials, which can happen when it shrinks, expands or warps. I can then connect the pieces by bolting or riveting them together.
I can do installation of copper steaf, Maintenance and replacing old beams, pipe work and structural steel such as : Chutes, Platforms, Handrails, Coke coal crusher, Torpedo, Heat exchanger for brochem, pipeline maintenance at brochem changing stainless pipes and valves, maintenance work which is troff patch, changing of water pipes, maintenance of beams, changing of flexible pipes. Lubrication of plant is done daily. Repair to the same standard or better than before the breakdown. Effective fault finding to enable minimum down time. Resources coordinated with production to minimise downtime, Timeous replacement of wearing parts. Completion of all mandatory checklists. Daily inspection of work area to identify pending faults and high risk areas. I can also inspect the finished product for defects and make repairs if needed before shipping out.

I have the agility, coordination and the technical skills needed for this job and the ability to ensure they meet environmental standards. I am capable of meeting the physical demands it requires as well, which includes lifting, stooping, bending and working overhead.
I have experience operating forklifts and cranes to move the heavy materials and the finished product around the warehouse. I have included my resume with complete details of my skills and training. I am sure you will agree I have what it takes to be a Boilermaker.
