Gilbert Van Zyl

I am a qualified builder, bricklayer, tiler, plumber and semi-skilled carpenter with more than 18 years’ experience in the construction industry. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and ensure only the best job is done. I am able to work in a team or on my own. I have done site safety before and am well adverse with regulations and risks. I have a keen eye for detail and am able to see a project through from the ground up.

I completed my Red Seal Certification to become a qualified builder in 1996 through the Department of training program building and completing the Sibongile School for the Visually Impaired. I was given the opportunity to further my training in 1996 and 1997 through the Governments National Skills Development programs to assist in the training of skilled trade certified people to fill a need and did my trade tests with Red Seal for bricklayer, plumber, plasterer, painter, tiler and builder. The programs gave me the chance to for fill my dreams.

I have supervised several sites on my own in previous endeavours as foreman and supervisor. I am very safety conscious and ensure that my teams know what they are doing and never take any risks that could cause harm or injury. I have done quotations. orders and distribution of materials needed for several sites.

I always make sure that the equipment used are in top condition and when done with cleaned and put away securely. I believe in hard work, a clean neat site and leaving the site in top condition. I am able to do regular reports on the status of all projects along with staff management. I have calculated materials needed (quantities and pricing), ensured that those who work with me are able, trained and capable of doing the job correctly. I do not take any chances; a person must prove to me they can do the job the way I want it done namely 150%. I do not allow half jobs.

I have done many small and large jobs over the years. I know I am fully capable of doing the above job to the best of my ability. When I have done a job, there has never been any comebacks as I do not believe in cutting corners.
