Personal Background: I grew up in the farming community of Kroonstad. My father was a grain farmer until he passed away in 2011. I have been exposed to the negotiation, risk, strategies and price management associated with grain farming since I was a child. I also have a very broad network of relations within the farming community of Kroonstad. I have a passion to promote the Agricultural industry in my community. This passion has driven me to equip myself with an extensive academic background, so that I can provide insight from an agricultural, strategic marketing as well as practical perspective.
Academic Background: I have a degree in Agriculture, Integrated Marketing Communications and in a
Postgraduate Certificate in Education. I believe that my extensive academic background within these
three areas will enable me to provide a diverse and well rounded approach to meet the requirements
and responsibilities of this position.
Experience: I have been teaching Grain Farming in Practice to the pupils in my class. I believe that my
experience as a teacher will enable me to apply my extensive knowledge of grain farming to great
advantage in this position. Furthermore, my role as a teacher has equipped me with the ability to
manage, facilitate and motivate pupils to reach the set outcomes of the curriculum. I have excellent
communication skills in English and Afrikaans and my role as teacher has truly unlocked my passion to
understand and motivate people. Even though I have been been teaching for the last three years, I
have also served as a part time marketing consultant to my my wife's Guest Cottage on the farm. Prior
to teaching I was actively marketing and selling hunting packages as well as the game on the farm. Since I started teaching, I had to employ a professional Hunter to take over the marketing responsibilities.
