Thami Khubisa

I have an overall experience of 14 years working in both the private and public sector industries within South Africa. My previous work experience includes three years within Eskom Generation as the Project Leader, implementing strategic mechanical projects from initiation and throughout the project lifecycle until commissioning. Before that I worked for ArcelorMittal Steel South Africa for five years implementing mechanical equipment maintenance by applying maintenance strategies in line with international best practice. I was also involved in managing maintenance budget throughout the plant and ensuring that maintenance costs are minimized.
I am currently working for Transnet National Ports Authority within the New Business Development department as a Project Manager based in the Port of Durban from July 2015 to date. My responsibilities include implementing and managing new business initiatives and concession agreements in order to attract new capital investment into the port and create additional revenue streams to ensure that TNPA meet its strategic objectives. Furthermore, part of my responsibilities include assessment of mechanical equipment to ensure compliance of all terminals within the Port of Durban.
My current role allows me to interact and develop good working relationship with colleagues and industry stakeholders including customers, industry leaders, associations and all other strategic partners. I also possess strong strategic leadership skills as I have led and managed a number of project teams and subordinates throughout my career. With the knowledge and experience that I possess in mechanical maintenance, I am of the view that I can bring more value to any organisation should I be given the opportunity.
My qualifications include the Bachelor of Technology Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NQF 7) and Specialist Project Management Programme (NQF 6) and also registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa as Professional Engineering Technician. Furthermore, I have recently completed studies towards my Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (NQF 8) in October 2020.
