THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are looking for an ETL Developer/Data Engineer based in Cape Town to join an exciting Project and BAU support focussed Data Loader team. You will gain exposure to various data formats and structures, liaise with our first-line support team on incidents and change requests as well as our clients regarding ongoing issues and operate in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Building and configuring data loaders using NiFi following predefined guidelines and standards. This includes customising components using Apache NiFi Expression Language, Apache Calcite SQL, Jolt Transform JSON.
- Supporting data loaders and troubleshooting issues that are raised internally or by clients.
- Configuring changes within existing loaders as per customer requirements following specifications delivered by Business Analysts.
- Analysis of various data inputs to determine whether it meets predefined standards to be loaded to Kurtosys systems.
- Liaising with Clients and Internal Teams on projects and BAU incidents, to resolve issues, within SLA timelines set out.
- Meticulous creation and maintenance of development and process documentation, ensuring clarity and efficiency in our team's development practices and workflows.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR ENGINEERS WITH:
Technical:
- Minimum 3-year qualification in an information technology or related degree.
- 3 years minimum work experience in an ETL configuration role (e.g. SSIS, Talend, NiFi, SQL functions / stored procedures) at Intermediate level.
- Experience coding with scripting base technologies such as JavaScript/ Python will be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of JSON data APIs and how to interact with them.
- Solid understanding of all major source file data types such as XML, XLSX and CSV and how to interact with them.
- Proven fault finding ability using a variety of technologies (ideally ETL tools, APIs, and Reporting/Data Visualization Engines).
- Proven track record of delivering high quality projects on time, and within the required scope and quality levels. Examples must be provided.
- Attention to detail, and the ability to quickly grasp complex technical issues and provide a root cause analysis report.
- Work within an agile, Kanban team to deliver objectives on time and within scope.
- Ability to work well under pressure within a team context
- Team player. Contribute and conform to the teams working agreement.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal).
- Ability to work under pressure and communicate blockers to the team as and when they arise.
- The ability to mentor or coach less experienced team members will be looked upon favourably
- Goal orientated. Must be relentless to meet objectives defined by team and project leads.
