About The Role
As a data engineer, you will collaborate with different departments and industries within our company to identify business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs.
This role requires extensive knowledge and experience related to data analysis, design, manipulation, developmental and operational insights.
The right person will have a background in data and business analysis and be self-motivated and passionate about problem solving.

Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems / National Diploma in an Information Technology related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' formal experience in data engineering.
- Application and data engineering background with a solid background in SQL is required.
- Knowledge of database management system (DBMS) physical implementation, including tables, joins and SQL querying.
- Knowledge and experience of structured data, such as entities, classes, hierarchies, relationships, and metadata.
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 or Microsoft Dynamics Business Central ERP systems will be beneficial.
- Experience in agile development.
- Assisting in the design, development, and support of a group wide data warehouse, using SQL Server Integration Services through an ETL process to combine various data sources in an Analysis Services Cube.
- Attending and accurate reporting on projects and tickets at weekly team meetings
- Ensure that the I&T department remains the preferred I&T service provider of business.
- Continuous identification, reporting and handling of risks in the I&T department.
- Comply with all VKB policies as well as adhering to all I&T principals.
- Attending of and participation in daily scrum meetings.
- Knowledge and understanding of SQL queries, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), data warehouse design, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
- Data Engineering background with a specific focus on staging high quality data.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at any given time.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage expectations.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Understanding of data warehousing principles.
- Added advantages would be:
- ability to develop reports and dashboards using reporting technologies such as Power BI and/or SSRS.
- Knowledge of cloud-based deployments of database systems (Azure Synapse).
- Knowledge of and exposure to Dev/ops.
