The South African Local Government Bargaining Council (SALGBC) seeks to appoint a competent database support officer for a 2-year contract post (1 August 2017-31 July 2019).
Job responsibilities:
- Ensure alignment of applications and workflow processes to functional reporting requirements.
- Participating in testing and evaluation of enhancements/upgrades thereby interacting with service providers where required.
- Perform database management involving creation of new subschema files, applying instructions to update information, inputting data referring to specific source documents and verifying system entries against information sources.
- Provide database information reporting involving the selection of records for reporting and the customisation of reports involving the use of specific calculations/formulae depending on the report requirement.
- Performing database backups and restores.
- Performing database maintenance involving running of diagnostic checks
- Resolution of queries and ensuring timely feedback to enquirer and immediate supervisor.
Job requirements:
- Relevant IT Database Management qualification/s, eg. MS Access and/or SQLl.
- Good analytical skills.
- Competency in SQL Reporting Services.
- Good telephone and interpersonal skills.
- 2 years relevant experience.
- A valid Code B driver's licence and own vehicle.
- Ability to travel nationally.
- Preference will be given to those who possess relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, ie. Diploma or Degreel and 3+ years relevant experience.
- Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged persons in terms of the SALGBC's Employment Equity Plan.
