Job Description
To carry out various duties necessary for the efficient maintenance and operation of Engineering Area onboard the Coral Sea.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Ensuring the efficient operation of the engine room by providing general maintenance assistance
- Performing general housekeeping duties and maintenance functions
- Conducts checks and reports the equipment information as required.
- Maintaining the equipment in the Engine Room by regular cleaning and removing of waste
- Assists with lifting, rigging, and moving of spares and equipment.
- Operates cranes and derricks for loading & discharging of stores/spares.
- Performs general housekeeping duties according to departmental requirements.
- Assist with vessel operations as instructed - general maintenance work in engineering related areas i.e., cleaning, stowing of engine room equipment, washing down, painting, greasing of engine room and vessel machinery.
- Assists artisans, technicians and engineers when required.
- Grade 12 or NQF equivalent
- Able Seafarer ticket (STCW II/5)
- 1 year experience in a sea going environment.
- Good Communication Skills at all levels
