The main purpose of this role is to take ownership of our strategic direction with regards to enterprise infrastructure development, management and maintenance. Ensure industry standard banking security is implemented and that infrastructure has strong governance and compliance to internal standards and external regulations.
The DevOps Manager reports directly to the Head of IT Strategy and Architecture. This position is responsible for ensuring that enterprise infrastructure is fit for purpose and will support future organisational strategy. This role will also oversee, build, iterate, secure and monitor our infrastructure for non-bespoke and bespoke applications, to ensure business continuity and recovery in the event of disaster. The DevOps Manager must ensure that infrastructure is secured to industry standards, adheres to regulation and has is built and managed with governance in mind. This role works closely with Information Security, Business Intelligence, IT, Product and Engineering.
Internal Liaison takes place across the business heads. External liaison takes place with 3rd parties.
Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Is Not Limited To)
- Manage all cloud based infrastructure classified as enterprise infrastructure
- Manage business intelligence infrastructure
- Manage infrastructure of acquired systems
- Ensure all infrastructure is built and maintained using enterprise DevOps standards
- Ensure all infrastructure is managed with Infrastructure as Code or similar
- Build staging and development environments when needed
- Ensure that all systems are high-available
- Maintain tooling and processes to monitor infrastructure and raise alerts as needed
- Ensure backups are regularly made and have automated backup recovery testing
- Regularly perform Disaster Recovery tests, document the results and find improvements that can be made
- Ensure that all recovery time targets and objectives are aligned with business needs and weighed against cost of implementation
- Work with Information Security, Data Governance and Compliance to ensure implementation of security, governance and compliance tools and controls
- Provide staging or production access to teams that perform security and penetration testing
- Ensure systems are regularly patched and upgraded
- Ensure critical and high severity security patches and upgrades are installed as soon as they are available
- Participate in audits and assessments
- Build annual budgets and monitor spending against budget through-out the year
- Ensure that cost per infrastructure system and environment can be determined and reported on to business, in order to use on ROI and similar metrics
- Have a process to regularly identify areas of cost savings via efficiency gains and/or different vendors
- Work with Compliance, Legal and Data Protection to ensure data governance policies remain aligned with current regulations

- Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
- Related tertiary qualification (Desired)
- 3+ years experience in data management and governance (Essential)
- 7+ years experience in a related field, for example DevOps, Software Development, System Administration (Essential)
- Experience in financial services (Strongly Desired)
