SANBI offers basic annual salary of R849 702.00
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to manage the operationalisation of the Biodiversity Education and Public Engagement strategy and take overall management responsibility for the human and financial resources at all the Biodiversity Education and Public Engagement Centres.
This position requires a degree in Environmental Education/Conservation Field or equivalent qualification at NQF 7. A relevant postgraduate degree or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 8 years of work experience in Environmental Education, 4 years of which should be in a supervisory position(s).
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: in-depth understanding of the role of Biodiversity Education and Public Engagement and human capital development in relation to the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA), the National Biodiversity Framework (NBA), the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), the White Paper on the National Climate Change Response and other related legislation; in-depth understanding of the Department of Basic Educations Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), the Environmental Sector Skills Plan, the National Environmental Education Policy and the National Biodiversity Human Capital Development Strategy (BHCDS); advanced knowledge of human resources, supply chain management, financial management, occupational health and safety, audit and risk, etc. within the context of SANBI as a Public Entity; proven ability in financial report writing, advanced planning, organizing, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) is essential. The possession of a valid drivers licence (minimum B) with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.
Key Performance Responsibilities Include
- Manage the operationalisation of the Kids in Gardens, awareness-raising programmes, capacity development;programmes and Outreach Greening Programmes for the Biodiversity Education and Public Engagement Directorate;
- Coordinate SANBI programs with other relevant human capital development initiatives;
- Manage human resources for the unit; and
- Perform financial management activities.
