CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
The primary purpose of this post is to develop and implement institutional equality promotion and social inclusion advocacy and awareness programmes and provide/facilitate support to equality-related complainants and/or respondents.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Provision of support and advice to staff and students who experienced unfair discrimination / harassment;
- Develop and implement social justice and equality advocacy programmes and interventions;
- Build internal and external stakeholder partnerships related to education and advocacy programmes;
- Co-ordinate and oversee all volunteer training and implementation of the equality-related education and advocacy programmes; and
- Provision of monthly and quarterly reports on equality promotion and social justice education and advocacy programmes, including GBV and Pride activities.
- Excellent knowledge of the relevant national legislation and regulatory frameworks related to social inclusion, equality promotion and protection against discrimination / harassment;
- Excellent inter-personal and networking skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally;
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in isiXhosa being a requirement;
- Proven training and facilitation skills;
- Proven computer literacy skills, including but not limited to the use of MS Office software package at intermediate level; ITS and the CiiMS case management software; and
- Proven attributes of transparency, integrity, maintaining confidentiality and teamwork.
- A relevant Masters degree or equivalent in Industrial Psychology, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, Law (human rights/labour law) or other relevant field.
- Three years relevant experience.
