The successful individual will be based in either Bryanston, Cape Town or Pietermaritzburg, depending on place of residence.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Drive the strategy and its implementation within the Division.
- Take responsibility for the overall financial management and performance of the Division.
- Risk management oversight and troubleshooting on specific projects and technical issues.
- Leadership of business development and tendering activities for the Division within South Africa and Africa.
- Allocation of Project Director roles on large national and international projects.
- Leadership and management of international private, public and donor agency funded projects.
- Oversight of international requests for proposals, expressions of interest and panel applications for the Division.
- QMS, project management and systems improvement for the Division.
- Ensure good governance within the Division and the effective implementation of the Quality Management System.
- Leadership in skills oversight and resourcing for the Division.
- Drive succession planning outcomes within the Division.
- Information technology oversight within the Division.
- Design standard leadership and be responsible for technical competence within the Division.
- Pricing and tendering within the Division, and on large projects.
- Contract management oversight.
- Co-ordination and co-operation with other Divisions and Executive Managers to ensure effective project delivery and functional integration of the Company.
- Preparation and active participation in MANCO and other governance structures of the company.
- Compliance with and managing direct report's compliance with the company's Quality Management System (ISO9001:2015), Business Management System (BMS), and the Project Management Online Guide (PMOG).
- Maintain regular and continued professional development through on the job training, in-house courses, seminars or outsourced specialist training as required and as agreed with the CEO.
- BEng /BSc in civil engineering with professional registration with ECSA as PrEng (active)
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years hands-on specialist experience in a senior role in a consulting engineering industry.
- Ability and willingness to travel and stay away from home for specified periods of time.

- Pavement design (mechanistic) and rehabilitation design
- Pavement materials (seal, asphalt, concrete, etc.)

- Large international road infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience of working with international donor funding agencies such as EU, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, EBRD and/or experience of working with NGOs.
- Working knowledge of GCC/ FIDIC / NEC / JBCC.
- Must be able to drive strategy implementation.
- Administrative and human resource management experience.
- Active and successful marketing experience.
- Competency in using MSWord, MS Excel, Outlook, ProMan (or similar), relevant design software, MS Projects.
- Writing and checking of design reports and calculation sheets.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and strong design skills.
- Excellent leadership, managerial, financial, legal, business development, conceptualisation, planning, project management and people management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills coupled with a sense of urgency and a participative management style.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, but also as part of a very dynamic team.

- Advantageous skills / experience:
- PrCPM and/or PMP.
- Output and Performance-based Road Contracts (OPRC).
- Experience as Technical Advisor in PPP projects.
