Drill and Blast Technician

A great mining company in the Northern Cape is seeking the expertise of an experienced Drill and Blast Technician to join their team of professionals.

Essential Requirements

• Grade 12
• Diploma/ BTech Degree in Mining Engineering
• Opencast Blasting Ticket
• Drivers License: Code B (Light Vehicle)
• Operational experienceas a Blasting/DrillingSpecialist within a Mining operations environment.
• 5 - 7years of experience inProduction, BlastingOperations, mine planning & pit layout.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitoring blasting activities, analysing results and submitting recommendations to achieve the desired fragmentation.
• Scrutinizing, inspecting, and approving blast block designs to ensure safe blasting practices and conformance to set standards and design Drill Patterns
• Providing advice to relevant stakeholders on surface blasting practices to proactively alleviate or avoid any unnecessary problems and to ensure statutory compliance at all times.
• Seeking, testing, analysing and evaluating the latest blasting technologies and making the necessary recommendations before implementation to ensure viability.
• Providing technical support on timing, initiation point, blasting sequence and tying up of holes to ensure conformance to set standards.
• Drill pattern, drill sequence, Drill Rod, B11 & Hammer Optimization, and penetration rate optimization.
• Managing the section's expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings.
