Responsibilities:
Ensuring the upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment used in and around the workshop and for ensuring sufficient stocks of spares and materials in order to maintain vehicles, rigs and other equipment
Ensuring that stores carry sufficient stocks to minimize equipment downtime
Inspecting drill rigs and diagnosing problems
Stripping, fixing and/ or replacing faulty parts, according to manufacturer’s requirements
Ensuring that the preventative maintenance program is adhered to
Attending to emergency breakdowns
Recording all parts/ spares used in maintaining the drill rigs and other equipment and informing the Site Manager when inventory is low
Observing and testing the operation of drill rigs and other equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions
Cleaning, lubricating and adjusting parts, equipment and machinery
Ensuring that refurbishments are done cost effectively and within the set turnaround times
Ensuring that everyone understands that nothing takes priority over safety
Eliminate work-related injuries, damage to equipment and lost time as a result of inferior maintenance standards on machinery and equipment
Demonstrate a commitment to SHE by complying personally with all SHE rules and regulations
Ensuring that all Company SHE (Safety Health, Environmental) policies and procedures are complied with
Use the correct PPE all times
Participate in safety meetings constructively
Conduct daily safety inspections of the work area
Apply a housekeeping program to maintain a safe working environment
Report all accidents and incidents, identify the causes and correct them or make recommendations to the Site Manager
Discuss Safety Memos and any new procedures issued
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 or N3
Qualified Diesel Mechanic
Code 10 driver’s license
2 years or more mechanical experience on drill rigs
Experience in technical / electric parts of compressor and basic auto electrician work
Previous experience in Fault finding and Cost Control
Medically Fit and capable of doing heavy manual work.
