Horticultural Technician

Cape Town

You are a Horticultural Technician who is an inspiring, empowering, and results-oriented leader with a passion for service excellence while maintaining standards and meeting or exceeding financial goals.

This is your opportunity to develop and maintain a profitable production herb garden/leafy greens and micro greens facility. This includes not only the technical aspects such as sowing of seed irrigation and soil preparation using vermicast compost, but also the chance to upskill and train a suitable candidate to oversee the microgreens and herb garden on off days. You will also be responsible for overseeing, implementing and maintaining the hot composting worm farm display, following the technical advice communicated by the specialist.

Your Matric Certificate with a Diploma in Horticulture or Landscaping Technology or sound experience in propagation will be crucial to your success in this role. A minimum of 3 years plant propagation experience, PC literacy, and technical experience in the upkeep of herb/leafy greens /microgreens facility will help you succeed in this role.

Along with your solid administration and recordkeeping skills, you have basic knowledge and understanding of project management and budgeting and working knowledge of IR legislation. You have an excellent attendance and performance track record and knowledge of sustainable methods for propagating herbs and micro-greens. Youre available to work weekends and public holidays and attend community sustainability events.
