Job Description:
This is a specialist role within a company of Technical giants! Our client is looking for a design engineer to design, develop and maintain electrical control systems for plant automation. The following is a detailed description of what you will be responsible for: 1. Design and Development of electrical components • Obtain quote/tender in order to analyze and understand client requirements • Participate in internal design criteria brainstorming session with team and HOD to: (Highlight/flag issues on the quote and finding solutions to flagged issues. Creating a time and impact analysis on new solution. Create a Scope of Work (SoW) based on basic engineer practices. Sign off SoW and design with HOD Design) • Complete basic electrical design based on schedules from the client (Check data sheets and save for data pack development, Present to HOD Design for review and feedback, Present to client for review and feedback, Finalise based on client feedback) • Complete final electrical design (Present to HOD Design for review and feedback, Present to client for review and feedback, Finalise based on client feedback) • If approved for construction: (Complete data pack, issue drawing and data pack to workshop, design and print labels and issue to workshop) • If not approved for construction, revert to complete final electrical design. • Ensure continuous/periodic review and testing is conducted throughout the design and development process to ensure correct functionality and operation, according to control philosophy • Rectify and redesign any electrical design errors found in review and testing • Ensure progress and milestone feedback is sent to HOD Design on a regular basis. • Ensure high-performance culture of delivery, accountability and a sense of urgency are maintained throughout the design process. 2. Conduct Testing (FAT and SAT) Factory Acceptance Testing • Set up Quality Check (QC) documentation, including (Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) documentation, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) documentation, Punch lists) • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in order to: (check functionality and operation, obtain feedback from workshop, update drawings if required to “ready for site” status) • Sign-off QC documentation • Report back to HOD Design on outcome of FAT once completed Site Acceptance Testing • Issue drawing and data pack to Installation Team Leader • Assist as required • Obtain feedback from SAT • Update drawings as required • Update drawings to “as-built” status • Report back to HOD Design on outcome of SAT once completed 3.Provide ongoing support • Participate in SAT testing as required • Work with workshop to handle queries and come up with a workable solution • Act as Subject Matter Expert for the Installation Team Leader to assist with queries. 4. Provide worthwhile Valued-Added Services to clients In order to, build and promote the companies brand, provide the following value-added services on request from the client: Operation and Maintenance Manuals (datapack) • Obtain client request • Create manual containing: (Equipments lists, Spares lists) Professionalism • Conduct self in a professional manner and be a company ambassador who displays the companies values when dealing with clients • Deal with disagreements or conflicts timeously and effectively, always protecting the client’s relationship with the company.
Minimum Requirements:
Engineering qualification – Btech (electrical engineering – heavy current) or B.SC in electrical engineering or National Diploma (electrical engineering – heavy current), AutoCad, Electrical AutoCad / ePlan (advantageous), SITE experience – 1 yr (advantageous), Panel Building experience – 1 yr (advantageous), Intermediate Excel proficiency (advantageous) and Basic Project Management skills (advantageous), Abilities and Qualities needed: Planning and Organising, Analysis, Decision making, Fault finding, Attention to detail, high Work standards, excellent written and verbal Communication, Strong Interpersonal skills and a high-Stress tolerance
