Design and implementation of electrical systems, including PLC and SCADA programming, for the Plant Engineering department focused on ammunition production facilities.
- Design
- Design of electrical and control systems.
- Ensure that designs are maintainable and manufacturable.
- Design for standardization of components and equipment.
- Execute and document electrical design calculations.
- Design of cable routing.
- Compile manufacturing data packs.
- Compile MBOM.
- Ensure availability of specified components and materials in designs for procurement.
- Verifying drawings for electrical design, safety and quality.
- Verifying manufactured designs are according to specification.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Support & Programming
- Program and configure PLCs for automated control of manufacturing processes.
- Design and implement SCADA systems for monitoring and control of production facilities.
- Interact with engineering team in order gather sufficient inputs in order to design electrical and control systems.
- Liaise with manufacturing, project managers, clients, procurement, suppliers and sub-contractors to monitor, advise and assist with the execution of the project plan.
- Interact with C&I department in order to convey relevant information on electrical manufacturing and automation.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and electrical department during procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation and commissioning.
- B.Eng in Electrical engineering.
- At least 3- 5 years minimum experience in a plant and equipment design environment.
- Experience in programming of PLC systems, preferably Siemens
- Proficient in the use of SolidWorks Electrical or similar.
- Use of 2D CAD packages for updating of legacy drawings.
- Exposure to Explosive Regulations as set out in the OHS Act.
- Knowledge of SANS 10142 & 60079.
- Knowledge of explosive environments.
- Analytical thinker with good reasoning skills.
- Ability to interact with people at all levels.
- Ability to work precisely and methodically with minimum supervision, self-starting attitude.
- Technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
