The role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and heavy equipment in industrial settings. They ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Millwrights work with a variety of tools and equipment to assemble, dismantle, align, and adjust machinery components to ensure precise functionality.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Install, assemble, and dismantle machinery and equipment according to specifications, blueprints, and industry standards.
- Align and calibrate machinery and equipment to ensure accurate functioning and performance.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems or malfunctions using various diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Repair or replace faulty machinery components such as motors, bearings, belts, gears, and other parts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oiling, greasing, cleaning, and lubricating machinery.
- Operate various hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and welding equipment.
- Comply with safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Liaise with engineers, machine operators, and other personnel to resolve technical issues and improve machinery performance.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for reporting purposes.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in millwrighting.
- Proven experience as a millwright or a similar role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Extensive knowledge of machinery and equipment assembly, alignment, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- VFD and PLC experience preferred
- Familiarity with hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and welding equipment.
- Ability to handle physical work demands, lifting heavy objects, and working in various environments (e.g. heights, confined spaces, extreme temperatures).
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and guidelines accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
- Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in millwrighting or related fields is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to different job sites.
