Position Overview

The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining positive employee relations within the organization. This role requires strong communication, mediation, and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve conflicts and ensure a harmonious work environment. The Employee Relations Manager will play a critical role in promoting employee engagement, fostering a culture of respect and teamwork, and adhering to labor laws and company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations: Establish and maintain open lines of communication with employees, ensuring their concerns and grievances are addressed promptly and fairly. Mediate disputes and resolve employee conflicts in a professional and unbiased manner.
  • Policy Development: Develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures related to employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and industry best practices.
  • Compliance: Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and industry trends related to employee relations. Provide guidance and ensure HR practices align with legal requirements, safety regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into employee complaints, alleged misconduct, or policy violations. Compile and analyze relevant data, evidence, and witness statements to determine appropriate actions.
  • Performance Improvement: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address performance issues and develop improvement plans for employees. Provide guidance and training to managers on performance management techniques and employee development.
  • Training and Communication: Develop and deliver training programs on employee relations topics, such as conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion, and harassment prevention. Regularly communicate policies, procedures, and updates to employees through various channels.
  • Employee Engagement: Develop and implement initiatives to improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Collaborate with relevant departments to promote a positive, inclusive, and diverse work environment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete employee relations documentation and records. Prepare reports and metrics to track trends, identify areas of improvement, and provide recommendations to the management team.
  • Employee Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for employees, providing guidance and support through challenging situations and ensuring fair treatment in all employment-related matters.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR team members, managers, legal counsel, and external parties as necessary to resolve complex employee relations issues and promote a positive work environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. A relevant master's degree is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Previous experience in employee relations, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Effective conflict management, mediation, and negotiation abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in HR software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP or similar are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
