Job Summary
RPO's client is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rock Engineer to their team. The Rock Engineer will be responsible for assessing and analyzing rock formations, designing support systems, and ensuring the safety and stability of underground and surface rock structures at mining sites, tunnels, quarries, and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting geotechnical investigations and assessments of rock formations
- Designing support systems for excavations, tunnels, and underground structures
- Providing technical support to mining operations, construction projects, and infrastructure development
- Monitoring and analyzing rock stability using specialized software and instrumentation
- Developing and implementing rock reinforcement and stabilization measures
- Collaborating with other engineers, geologists, and project managers to ensure project success
- Conducting risk assessments and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in rock engineering or geotechnical engineering
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics principles and practices
- Experience with numerical modeling software (e.g., FLAC, 3DEC, RS2)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Minimum of 3 years operational middle management experience (Total of 8 years experience)
