CA Engineer

Job Overview
UD Trucks is known for our pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive in dustry. The CA engineer will be co-responsible for the full Customer Adaptation (CA) process from quotations, design of new components and setup of new Customer Adaptation processes and technical support for the installations done in the workshop.
Responsibilities And Duties
Design
To continuously document customer adaptations in the relevant systems to define the customer adaptation installations and components for the purpose of ordering parts, assembly, financial processing and aftermarket support. Documentation includes bill of material, CAD drawings, assembly instructions and any other specification to define the product or processes.
To design new CA components when required as per all agreed requirements and standards like the Road Traffic Act and to full fill customer needs.
Collaborate with international teams (Japan, Thailand, India, etc.) in common CA solutions.
Operational
To assist with the planning of the workshop resources to ensure timeously release of the vehicles.
To liaise with suppliers on delivery, quality and financial matters on an ongoing basis to ensure material availability and improve quality.
To specify and select the appropriate tools, equipment and processes required for each installation to ensure the safety and to maintain a high level of quality.
Having the UD Production System as guidance, implement critical improvements in the CA workshop driving higher performance through new process solutions using tools like 5S, VSM, RCA and CI.
To verify and approve vehicle job cards processed by CA workshop on a daily base to ensure timeously release of the vehicles.
To assist with financial control, project costs and continuous cost control to ensure that financial targets been achieved.
To assist to ensure that all staff and equipment conform to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) regulations to ensure safe working environment.
To assist to maintain local manufacturing systems.
Discuss and negotiate manufacturing and/or purchases of CA workshop equipment with relevant approved suppliers.
To support with quality inspections on vehicles.
Support with workshop administration including but not limited to parts order creation and parts receiving.
Support
To supply CA information to Aftermarket on a regular basis.
To give the necessary technical support when required to ensure satisfaction of the end customer.
Assist the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance department with various activities as required.
Participate in project teams for new model launch.
Do investigations on new design requests and prepare quotations for Sales.
To prepare data required by Sales to publish the CA Pricelist and to update the relevant Sales systems.
To support the CA workshop with problem solving and investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualification
National diploma in mechanical engineering or related qualification essential. Mechanical engineering degree an added advantage.
Experience
4-5 years experience within the automotive manufacturing industry essential.
2-3 years experience in 3D design and product development essential.
