- Serve as the senior engineering leader responsible and accountable for directing and implementing the strategic vision and value of company data, its role as a competitive business asset, and a revenue driver.
- Establish vision and data strategy for organisation data initiatives.
- Managing multiple engineering teams focused on data platform and analytics
- Drive discussions and decisions with leadership and data owners across the organisation regarding ways to better integrate, manage, optimise, and capitalise data as an asset across the organisation (including external data sources).
- Maintain and extend the information architecture to allow the business to capitalise on its data as a strategic asset.
- Maintain and extend the data platform architecture with a long-term view on supporting business objectives.
- Document, classify, and manage data sources and business data entities used across the business, ensuring data is easily discoverable.
- Helping stakeholders, data literates or not, to capture and integrate with the data they need to achieve business objectives
- Responsible and accountable for the accuracy of data, management of data cleanliness, as well as the integration of data into a "single source of truth".
- Operations, availability, security, scalability, and efficiency of the data platform
- Maintain and extend the architecture and implementation of stream and ELT pipelines.
- Establish data standards, and drive compliance, to ensure the integrity and quality of data.
- Responsible and accountable for modeling, and forecast hosting and application budgets for the data division across multiple financial years. That also implies keeping track of actuals vs. budget during the year.
- Design and implement processes, and tools to work in a data mesh environment using the current data federated architecture.
- Extend and execute a data governance program for the company, using automation and well-defined processes to enforce policies and best practices.
- Has a strong understanding of both the technical aspects of data as well as business needs. Ability to bridge the gap between business and technology with respect to data
- Has an analytical mind with a passion for answering hard questions using data-driven approaches
- Has an exceptional ability to drive change, influence and motivate others both at the team and executive level
- Has experience managing effective teams, and can deliver projects from start to finish
- Can break down complex problems and find simple solutions leveraging past experience and/or using industry and internal best practices
- Has relevant domain experience such as software engineering, databases, data warehousing, business intelligence, data analytics, data science, or machine learning
- We would also like to see at least one of the following in the candidate:
- Experience architecting and engineering ETL/ELT pipelines
- Experience architecting and engineering stream pipelines and event-driven architectures.
- Experience architecting and operationalising data platforms
- Experience sourcing, enriching, processing, and analysing data
- A Degree in the related fields of Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics
- Experience building and maintaining modern data platforms using Kappa/Lambda reference architectures.
- Experience with modern Business Intelligence processes, tools, and patterns, such as the use of streaming, ELTs, CDC, Data Mesh, among others.
- Experience building and maintaining a data platform
- 10+ years of domain experience
- 5+ years of management experience
