Description – Project Manager
● Lead a team in designing, and implementing ESG strategies, policies and processes to enhance a client’s ESG profile and minimize their sustainability risk
● Design ESG risk management system across different departments with unique KPI to assist decision making and ESG risk identification and tracking.
● Apply leading international sustainability frameworks to all facets of work in building excellent company-community-stakeholder relationships.
● Provide technical assistance and capacity building to the client to implement the adopted strategies.
● Drive community development projects that create sustainable socio-economic benefits for local communities.
● Formulate innovative development community programs which suit the local context
● Prepare ESG reports based on the best international standards in the field to meet compliance requirements whilst enhancing transparency, stakeholder trust, and long-term value creation.
Experience and Capabilities
● Minimum of 3 years of successful field experience and project management.
● Experience working efficiently and effectively in urgent and challenging situations.
● Expertise working as part of a team and in a multicultural environment.
● Knowledge of international standards related to Social Impact Assessments and mining sustainability frameworks and standards,
● Experience in project management in a consultancy firm or NGO in developing countries, or experience in implementing standard social methodologies (ESIA, ESMP, PEPP, RAP, etc.),
● Experience in Southern countries and in consulting firms are advantages.
● Strong interest in human development issues, sustainability and a desire to gain or strengthen international experience.
● Deep knowledge of ESG issues surrounding the mining industry.
Other Requirements
● Minimum Bachelors or Master’s degree in social sciences, economics, sociology, agronomy, environmental studies, or a related discipline would be an advantage.
● An excellent grasp of ESG issues, standards and leading frameworks as well as experience in their application.
● Good writing skills (drafting, analysis, technical and strategic documents) are required.
● Good proficiency in English, both oral and written, is essential. Proficiency in other languages used on the African continent would be an advantage as position will be located in Africa.
