Key Performance Areas
- Evaluate inquiry documents with relevant responsible Managers and Proposals Engineer.
- Visit sites to ascertain site requirements.
- Determine the order of operations and tasks to be performed to implement the project.
- Identify the types and amounts of materials required to implement the project.
- Prepare timelines, construction schedules and manpower histograms in conjunction with the Project Planner.
- Calculate supplementary costs e.g. consumables, equipment, tools, etc.
- Advise on special erection equipment and tools and other requirements for specific projects.
- Prepare and issue erection/construction method statements to be incorporated into tender documents in conjunction with the relevant engineering department.
- Produce accurate manpower estimation sheets, priced equipment lists and provisional and general costing for the project aligned with the construction schedules and method statements.
- Prepare a projected cash flow for the proposal.
- Liaise with Proposal Engineers and incorporate any modification as required.
- Produce the basis of cost reporting and evaluate contractual issues.
- Assist the administrative personnel.
- Assist with payment applications and invoicing should queries arise during project execution.
- Assist with cost controlling should queries arise during project execution.
- Attend internal and client meetings.
- Coach and mentor Junior Estimators.
- Manage Estimating teams on multidisciplinary tenders involving complex estimating processes involving engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction.
- Any other job related duties as required from time to time.
- Proven track record of accurate estimation of manpower, capital and indirect costs for construction projects.
- Ability to work under pressure and keep to strict deadlines.
- Ability to read and understand project schedules.
- Computer literate (MS Office, SAP, planning - and estimating software).
- Ability to do presentations to and communicate to Senior Management.
- Deadlines driven, punctual and keeps to schedule.
- Accuracy of record keeping and assumption.
- Fluent in both written, verbal communication (English).

- B.Sc., B.Eng. or B.Tech. Engineering degree: 5 7 years estimating experience.
- National Technical Diploma: 10 15 years estimating experience.
- Artisan Trade Test would be advantageous.
- 7 10 Years construction site experience working as a technical personnel on maintenance or construction site.
- Proven track record of accurate estimation of manpower, capital and indirect costs for construction projects
- Knowledge of engineering contracts (NEC and FIDIC).
- Knowledge of cost estimating and control principles from the AACE.
- Computer literate (MS Office, SAP, planning - and estimating software).
