Job Summary
The Tax Regulatory Reporting environment is a very dynamic Tax Operational environment with continuous change requirements from the Regulators but mainly SARS, and also as a result of the dynamics in the Product environments with constant change.
For this Position we are seeking a skilled ETL Developer and Data Analyst to join our team and take care of the ETL components of the data value chain that feeds our PostgreSQL TAX database.
This role requires advanced knowledge in ETL SSIS development and data analytics, as well as a good understanding of Data Models and data modeling.
The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with senior stakeholders, understanding regulatory tax requirements like FATCA CRS, and Interest Earn (IT3) reporting.
The role involves facilitating user and Regulatory requirements and developing SSIS PostgreSQL solutions for the regulatory reporting process.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SSIS to extract, transform, and load data from various sources but mainly from the Hadoop data Lake, into the PostgreSQL database.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather user requirements and understand the regulatory tax reporting needs, including FATCA CRS and Interest Earn (IT3) reporting.
- Utilize data analytics techniques to analyze and validate data integrity, identify data quality issues, and implement appropriate data cleansing and transformation strategies.
- Create and execute efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to manipulate and retrieve data from the PostgreSQL database.
- Collaborate with the development team to design and implement optimized data models and database structures.
- Perform data profiling and conduct data quality assessments to ensure accurate and reliable data.
- Develop and maintain documentation for ETL processes, including technical specifications, data mappings, and transformations.
- Monitor and optimize ETL processes to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices related to ETL development, data analytics, and regulatory tax reporting.
- At least 3 years' experience as an HTML Developer. In-depth knowledge of front-end coding languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML. Ability to troubleshoot coding and application errors. Knowledge of web design and user application requirements.
- Knowledge of the SARS e-Filing interface will be of advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience in ETL SSIS development and data analytics, preferably with a focus on PostgreSQL database.
- Strong understanding of the ETL process and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with regulatory tax reporting requirements, such as FATCA CRS and Interest Earn (IT3) reporting.
- Proficient in SQL and stored procedures, with experience in optimizing SQL queries.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and understand their needs.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques is a plus.
- Experience with regulatory reporting processes and frameworks is highly desirable.
