For more than 20 years, Globeleq has been a long-term investor, developer, owner and operator of diversified power projects in Africa, where the company is one of the largest Independent Power Producers., With nearly 1500MW of generation capacity in operation across 16 power plants in 7 countries, 488MW of new power projects in construction and >2, 000MW in development, Globeleq is one of the largest independent power producers solely focused in Africa. Globeleq is 70% owned by British International Investment and 30% by Norfund, the development finance institutions of the UK and Norway, and has a proven track record for supporting the ongoing development of the African power sector.

Globeleq's various generation technologies include gas, wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and geothermal. The company is also actively pursuing new opportunities which are emerging from the energy transition, including desalination projects powered by renewables, as well as green hydrogen and ammonia projects.

Globeleq is hiring a Senior Executive Assistant to provide executive administrative support to the CEO across all professional support needs.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Support to CEO
  • Consider, plan and manage end to end travel arrangements including hotels, restaurants, taxis, itineraries and visas arrangements as required.
  • End to end calendar and diary management including planning of annual, quarterly and weekly meetings as required, ensuring all meetings are clearly arranged with participants, meeting rooms, travel logistics, catering, IT requirements and agenda/materials as required.
  • As requested by the CEO, to fully manage the CEO's email traffic, handling joint-prioritisation and timely responses to assist the CEO with successful delivery.
  • Support the CEO in meeting preparation, including drafting / collation of presentations and reports, tracking actions/submissions from team and accurate document management. As required, greet CEO visitors and guests and takes minutes to support the meetings.
  • Administrative support with general correspondence, scanning and filing; update of CEO's contact list.
  • Manage accurate, timely tracking, submission and payment of CEO's expenses;
  • In accordance with the Manual of Authorities, act with delegated approval for CEO's direct reports for expenses, travel requests and invoices.
  • Carry out ad-hoc projects as required by the CEO, alone or and in collaboration with others when relevant
Board, Committee & Shareholder Meetings
  • Work with the CEO, General Counsel and Group Company Secretary to plan and manage the Globeleq Board & committee agendas. Assist the Company Secretary with timely delivery of high-quality, professional Board papers via the chosen portal for the main quarterly meetings as well as any ad hoc meetings.
  • Work closely with other EA to C-suite on all Board logistics and planning.
  • As requested by the CEO, attend each Globeleq Board meeting and some committee meetings (including the overseas Board) to ensure smooth logistics, administrative support, and delivery.
  • Coordinate with other EAs and support team members on the scheduling of Board dates and communicate those dates to all concerned for their awareness and related planning.
  • Attend ExCo meetings as required to support the CEO. Take minutes, track actions, and assist the CEO with any required follow-ups.
  • Plan, manage and coordinate all Investment Committee (IC) meetings in line with IC terms of reference.
  • Schedule, plan, coordinate and deliver quarterly Shareholder meetings as directed, acting as the main point of contact between the shareholders and the CEO, with support from the other EA to C-suite.
  • Once issued by the Finance Function and signed off by the CEO, distribute the Globeleq Monthly Report to the Board and Shareholders in a timely manner.
Companywide Conference & Events
  • On an annual basis, lead the planning and delivery of the January 'Kick-Off 'meeting as well as any other CEO led initiatives / events Work closely with the Director of Communications and Government Affairs on all CEO interventions both internally and externally (incl planning for adequate preparation of materials)
  • Establish in collaboration with the Director of Comms and Government affairs a calendar of external facing interventions for the CEO (incl. but not limited to the Africa Energy Forum)
  • In collaboration with other EAs and when the CEO's participation is required, involvement in Operations, BD, Finance, ESSG or HR led events across the Company.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of any Strategy or ALL HANDS company meetings
  • Assist and/or organise companywide social events as required

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Office administration / management experience is essential
  • Experience working at Board and C suite level is essential
  • Mastery of all major IT applications and document production/formatting including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Teams
  • Fluency in another language (especially French) is an advantage
  • Working in a multi-cultural environment
  • A desire to work in the power industry and emerging markets is an advantage
  • Preference for candidates based in Cape Town. London based candidates will be considered on an exceptional basis.
