JOB REQUIREMENTS :
- Responsible for a small corporate café, which feeds mostly lunches to 15 – 20 staff members;
- Required to prepare snacks for special events and meetings. This should happen 1 x weekly, for 10 persons;
- Food to be prepared daily, healthy and fresh;
- Lunch or breakfast to be prepared for 20 persons at least 1 x monthly;
- Responsible for the food and beverage requirements for all company functions;
- Responsible for the management of the kitchen and related area’s i.e. Beverage Store;
- Look after the Directors of the company’s requirements daily which will include making them dinner;
- On the odd occasion, should staff work late, their food requirements to be attended too;
- This position will seldom require excessive hours, weekend of public holiday work.
- Planning of daily menus;
- Ensure standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety is maintained;
- Establishes controls to minimize food waste;
- Develop recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which will help to assure consistently high quality;
- To minimize food costs and exercises portion control for all items served;
- Evaluates food products to assure that quality standards are consistently attained;
- Establishes and maintains a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule;
- Perform other duties as directed;
- Checking of deliveries and placing orders;
- Manage relationships with suppliers.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum required):
- BS Degree in Culinary science or related Diploma
- Good understanding of Food groups and healthy eating
NOTE : If qualification is still in progress, this is considered as not having the qualification
EXPERIENCE (Minimum required):
- Academic qualifications plus 4 years solid working experience;
- For diplomas, at least 5-7 years work solid working experience; and
- Actual verifiable work place skills;
- Solid employment history
