Expeditor EPC Projects
Role Description
The Expeditor will report to the Procurement Lead and be responsible for ensuring specified deadlines are met from purchasing requisition to delivery. The Expeditor will ensure execution in the ordering and delivery of materials and the manufacturing progress of suppliers, as well as deadline adherence for engineering and commercial deliverables. Additionally, the Expeditor shall be responsible for evaluating supplier progress schedules against baseline schedules, progress liaison between departments and updating and reporting of progress schedules to project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain processes, execution of multi-disciplinary projects, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast- paced environment
Required Qualifications, Experience And Competencies
- Appropriate tertiary qualification
- At least 3-years experience in expediting in a large-scale project environment. Experience in an EPC/ EPCM environment is advantageous
- Understanding of supply chain processes and logistics including shipping and receiving
- Understanding of industrial plant and equipment and associated quality requirements, with experience in the pyrometallurgical industry being advantageous
- A strong track record in process execution
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team skills
- Analytical skills
- Proficiency in software systems, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiarity with procurement software and inventory management systems
- Ability to multitask and handle high pressure situations effectively
- Attention to detail
- Ensure successful delivery of supplier orders with the relevant specification within the timeframe
- Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing and shipment of goods by suppliers
- Communicate with suppliers and internal departments to track and expedite orders, ensuring on-time delivery and minimal disruption to project schedules
- Participate in progress meetings with suppliers and visit suppliers
- Analyze and evaluate progress reports sent by the suppliers
- Identify and ensure implementation of supplier acceleration measures, notify project teams of possible schedule lapses and risks, and manage mitigation
- Monitor expediting schedules and work closely with Procurement, Quality, Project Management and engineers to prioritize and expedite orders
- Analyze project schedules and delivery dates for purchase orders which may affect the critical path of the project or may be considered as risk packages. Cross-interface as required and undertake predictive elimination of incidents
- Identify potential delays or issues in procurement and manufacturing processes and work proactively to address these challenges to minimize impact on production and shipping schedules
- Maintain accurate records of orders and production progress to facilitate effective decision-making and reporting
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and minimize lead times
- Ensure that relevant manufacturing data in online tools are on time, complete and available
- Work closely with Quality Control department, package engineers and planners as required, including ensuring timeous delivery of quality programmes and action plans if schedule deviations are detected
- Participate in and drive the development and implementation of measures to ensure deadlines are met and the expediting process is measured and visible

- Create and maintain reports for internal review
- Ensure identified regulations are adhered to
