Our client is looking for an experienced, self-motivated and target driven Farm Business Manager for a farm in the Hemel en Aarde Valley. This position will be responsible for the overall management and leadership function of the farm including labour planning and management, production, harvesting and packhouse activities.
The farm consists of 150 ha and two varieties of berries are produced, blueberries and raspberries. Production includes growing mostly under tunnels in substrate and production is focussed on export to Europe and Asia.
Job responsibilities:
- Strategic direction and management
- Financial management, report and budgets
- Planning, implementation and monitoring of the total production process of crops aligned to world class growing techniques
- Total management of production, harvest and packhouse processes according to company standards and procedures
- Staff management and development: staff numbers range between 300 and 1500 in season
- Planning, preparation and production of raspberries and blueberries
- Stock management and procurement
- Business risk assessment and management
- Labour planning
- Provide support to cross functional teams in developing business plans, budgets, pricing structure and marketing plans
Job requirements:
- Start Date: 1 September 2018
- Agricultural/horticulture degree plus business qualification (e.g. MBA)
- Integrate network linkages of soft fruit and berry industry entities and individuals
- Exceptional leadership and management skills and sapient authority
- At least 10 years’ executive management experience
- Proven success in procuring and managing new business
- Knowledge and network in the fruit/agricultural industry
- Financial management, including budgeting
- Planning and meeting deadlines
