Finance Analyst

Are you ready to set sail on an exciting career adventure? We are looking for a proactive and skilled Financial Analyst to join our Sunsail and The Moorings finance team in Cape Town. You will be providing key financial insights and commercial analysis to support smart decision-making across our vibrant BVI and wider Caribbean charter bases!

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing historical and forecasted financial results, presenting data, and tracking KPIs to ensure smooth operations across our bases. Working closely with the Finance Business Partner BVI and Caribbean, as well as building relationships with our finance and operations teams.

Sunsail and The Moorings are an exciting and dynamic Yacht charter and Yacht Sales business, operating a global fleet of over 600 yachts, selling to the worldwide market. The business is part of Travelopia Group, which is the worlds largest provider of specialist and experiential travel with a range of unique experiences, from private jets, polar expeditions, cycling holidays and more.

Sunsail and The Moorings Caribbean operations include the flagship BVI base with over 200 yachts, and a resort with a hotel, restaurants, coffee shop and boutiques. There are also bases located in The Bahamas, St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, St Martin, Belize and Martinique.

What you will be doing?
  • Review monthly Base results, investigate areas of overspend and produce variance analysis including commentary
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring all balances are backed up with relevant documentation
  • Assist with monthly forecasts, annual budget and 3-year plan for BVI (Charter and Resort) and Caribbean bases
  • Provide analysis and insight for yacht maintenance costs identifying trends in the spend across different yacht types, ages, and location
  • Business partner with the Base Managers and Operations Managers across the Caribbean bases you are responsible for to drive insight
  • Assist with the development and preparation of monthly departmental reporting packs for the BVI (Charter & Resort) and Caribbean bases to provide financial insight and accountability for Base Managers and departmental heads, including relevant KPI data
  • Identify areas for development and continuous improvement of processes
  • Assist with the annual audit when required
  • Undertake any duties and projects identified by the Finance Business Partner
What we are looking for:
  • Experience in business partnering and accounting, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • CIMA, ACCA, or ACA part-qualified or finalist
  • Advanced Excel skills, including V-lookup, Index/Match, pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly analytical
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and manage various projects at once
  • The highest level of tenacity, curiosity, and strong work ethic
  • A positive, proactive, can-do individual who brings energy to the team and is a very strong collaborator
