Our client, a leader in the climate finance space, is looking for an ambitious ESG Associate to support their investment and ESG teams. Their portfolio extends across Africa and encompasses innovative projects in the renewable energy space.

Working at this level is not for the faint of heart. Youll need 5+ years of experience monitoring investment compliance, the coordination of development phase tasks relating to ESIAs and other specialist studies, and experience on site to tango with this team.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in ESG related field
Experience Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in the ESG field for a developer or investment organisation
  • Experience implementing international best practice standards in environmental and social assessment and management
  • Experience in renewables, water, wastewater and waste infrastructure
  • On-site experience in construction or operations advantageous
Responsibilities
  • Conduct E&S due diligence, including assessments, research, and developer engagement
  • Coordinate development phase tasks like ESIAs and consultant activities
  • Prepare E&S documents for construction and operation phases
  • Monitor investment compliance with E&S requirements
  • Develop and implement community development programs
  • Develop and update key governance documents
  • Create tools and templates for the ESG team
  • Conduct internal audits for E&S compliance
  • Support strategic initiatives for the Fund Manager and managed funds
  • Handle ESG performance and impact reporting
  • Conduct impact analysis and data generation
  • Monitor environmental and social performance through audits
  • Research and prepare papers on ESG themes
  • Create ESG training materials
  • Manage project action trackers and documentation
  • Organize and coordinate meetings, draft internal documents and take meeting notes
  • Perform general administrative tasks
  • Identify and develop opportunities for hands-on ESG management experience at construction and operation sites
