The main purpose is to partner with Products Heads, Segments, Regional Heads, and various other stakeholders to ensure end-to-end financial management of our operations. The role is responsible for providing financial guidance and support to these business leaders, as well as monitoring financial performance and identifying areas for improvement. The candidate's expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our bank achieves its financial objectives, complies with regulatory requirements, and maintains a strong financial position. Overall, the candidate plays a key role in driving our bank's success and growth by leveraging your financial acumen to inform strategic decision-making and drive operational excellence.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees such as a or a professional qualification such as a Chartered Accountant CA (SA) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants CIMA or similar. (Ideal)
- 5 years' previous experience in personal and business banking
- Thorough understanding of operations in a bank with 6+ years' experience in similar industry and role (Ideal)
FINANCE
Strategic Finance
- Develop investment appraisals for strategic growth within the Business.
- Monitor Performance to ensure no revenue leakage.
- Develop profitability models to ensure products are developed are profitable.
- Manage the budget process within the business units.
- Review strategic plans of business owners and drive profitability within planning
- Month-end review to ensure all entries is correct before month end close.
- Review Recons / Invoice process to ensure controls are in place.
- High level design & mappings of the GL.
Business story/ Business performance
- Develop and manage reporting within the business units
- Develop business intelligent reporting to support business growth and focus? Enable business through Strategic Focus Areas, Initiatives & Campaigns Formulation & Tracking
- Provision of quality insightful Client, Product, Channel, Banker Analytics. 1. Rate x volume type analysis. 2. Unpack the makeup of rate to clearly articulate what works or does not work and clarity of action. 3. Volume - Distil the impact of volume analysis to clearly reflect on corrective action and who needs to action what.
- Provide reports, dashboards and insights that enable understanding of Productivity & Participation of Bankers/Segment/Channel & Product
- Participate and drive the Annual Pricing Review workstream. Manage product trade-offs to deliver customer strategy. Maximising on client level ROE
Participate in building solid business cases for Opportunities Identification (Cross-sell, upsell, acquisitions, new products, etc). Campaigns Formulation & Tracking
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Robust control environment
- Maintain and improve the financial control. Invoice Issuing/Verification (Alliances, TOCs, Brokers), Payments, Allocation, Accruals & Reconciliations. Provision on accurate, timely input into Regulatory Reporting. Maintenance of Banker Rollup Structure/Maintenance of Division's Cost Centre Structures
- Clean audit report & no repeat audit findings
- Identify repetitive processes and reimagine the process. Eliminate manual work arounds. Eliminate/reduce the number of journals processed on a regular basis.
- Drive allocated or participate meaningfully in reporting projects (automation and proof of concepts). Key is to be an active participant in cross-functional projects that have a pervasive impact.
Successful Testing of reports/dashboards/new reporting requirements and related business rules. Ensure one version of the truth across financial/drivers/sales reports across the organization
