As a Senior Manager in Finance, the role will support the Head of Finance in the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of Anova, specifically on Other Projects , managing daily operations, reporting accurate financial results, and implementing financial procedures to improve/maintain the financial health of the organisation and provide efficient functioning and delivery of all finance aspects on Other Projects
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Financial management and reporting
- Compile the Annual Financial Statements
- Compile and analyse the monthly management packs in collaboration with other Financial Managers
- Distribute the management packs timeously
- Compile a monthly budget to actual reports with variance analysis and other required standard reports.
- This includes responding to ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis.
- Support the Head of Finance in producing inputs for the monthly and quarterly exco and board packs, and other financial presentations for review.
- Provide support to the Head of Finance during annual audit and coordinate in the preparation of the required financial reports.
- Perform monthly analysis of operational activities, including historical, current, and projected expense, cash flow, variances, and key financial data, including indirect cost for FINCO.
- Actively participate in the monthly FINCO meetings, presenting the Other Projects management packs
- Manage daily functions to ensure the financial infrastructure is stable and supports the future demands of the organisation.
- Manage daily operations by:
- verifying the accuracy and quality of all financial information ensuring it is maintained in terms of international financial reporting standards and generally accepted accounting practices.
- ensuring that performance measures and monitoring systems are in place that support the organisations strategic direction
- managing and overseeing that reporting, monitoring, and recording systems attain the highest standard of financial integrity
- ensuring that procedures and policies are implemented in line with best industry practices.
- ensuring cash flow management of the projects by monitoring cash balances and cash forecasts, and tracking cash flow to ensure it is appropriate and sustainable
- reviewing creditor reconciliations and ensuring they a submitted monthly, as per finance timetable.
- reviewing and authorising EFT payments and supporting documentation.
- overseeing the issuance of financial information
- champion excellent management of financial resources, promoting efficiency, high performance, and overall value for money.
- promote the review of financial policy, systems, and practices to deliver continual improvement, automation and self-service and explore systems full benefits.
- Monitor budget expenditure ensuring that expenditure is in line with what is required.
- Ensure the timely preparation of robust budgets from a financial perspective, testing the underlying assumptions and quality assuring the cost, benefits, and mitigating risks.
People management
- Manage staff (in line with policies, procedures, and standards) by:
- Partnering with HR on recruitment and induction of new team members.
- Managing the performance review process.
- Identifying training needs or staff support needs and ensuring that such training or support is provided.
- Mentoring and guiding staff by facilitating regular meetings.
- Develop relationships with relevant financial institutions, internal, external and funder auditors and stakeholders to ensure good working relations.
- Manage and retain relationships with various vendors to meet the requirements of the organisation.
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile and support in identifying and reporting financial risks to the Head of Finance to ensure implementation of corrective measures and/or risks identified are mitigated to an acceptable residual risk. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
- Act as a change agent for the team to support them in transitioning effectively during systems changes
- Actively participate in the systems design, roll out and evaluation.
- Support Head of Finance and CFO with other adhoc items
- Support the Head of Finance and Assets team with the annual fixed assets verification project.
- Compt / BCom Hons/ Professional accountant
- At least 3 to 6 years progressively responsible experience in a financial management role
- Solid staff managerial and supervisory experience working in cross functional teams
- Solid knowledge of financial accounting policies and procedures
- Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Enterprise resource planning /systems experience
- Excellent communications and presentation skills in English
