Position Overview
Based at Johannesburg (Longmeadow) to further strengthen our local Finance team with Production department, we are currently seeking a:
FINANCE MANAGER (Johannesburg- Longmeadow, South Africa)
II. - MISSION
Plans, organises, directs, controls, and coordinates the financial and accounting activities of Chipkins Puratos (Factory and Yeast divisions). This position report directly to a Financial Director.
III. - KEY TASKS
- Manage (direct co-ordinate and control) the financial activities of Factory and Yeast divisions (Longmeadow)
- Responsible for effective controls environment.
- Review and authorise (sign-off) payments to creditors.
- Maintain Fixed Assets Register.
- Control & oversee stock counts and variance analysis.
- Perform cost analysis.
- Prepare financial reports
- Processing of monthly journals and schedules (accounting function).
- Prepare income statement and balance sheet (referred to as The Pack). Understand and explain costs and movements.
- Submit income statement forecast (Flash).
- Prepare annual financial statement budget
- Prepare monthly & quarterly reports on business unit performance.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports.
- Oversee annual financial year-end audit
- Prepare required input for audits.
- Liaise with auditors to set-up year-end financial audit.
- Furnish auditors with all relevant information for audit.
- Assist with the formulation of the business unit strategic plan by providing relevant financial information
- Oversee the preparation of departmental budgets.
- Prepare and present long range profit forecasts and budgets.
- Assist with the preparation (draft) and implementation of the business unit strategic plan.
- Conduct risk management function
- Establish internal financial monitoring and control procedures, mechanisms, and systems. Includes monthly balance sheet reconciliations and annual asset verifications.
- Evaluate efficiency of budgetary and accounting strategies, polices, and plans in consultations with other managers.
- Perform other duties as per operational requirements.
- Including releasing of payments.
- Assist with ad-hoc requests/information gathering as needed.
- Matric (Grade 12) and a bachelors degree in Accounting or relevant qualification.
- Completed articles will be beneficial.
- >5 years experience in a production environment as accounted and financial manager.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Syspro knowledge is a prerequisite.
- Interpersonal skills; communicating with management and staff at all levels; resolve conflicts and negotiate with others; establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Make decisions and solves problems, analysing data or information.
- Written comprehension the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Good communication skills - English is a prerequisite.
- Ability to read and write in English and any other language(s)
- Good personality, hardworking, teamwork, service orientated, creative, innovative, trustworthy, open to learn from feedback.
- Willingness to travel for branch visits/stock takes.
