Purpose

The Finance Manager is responsible for the operational financial management of the assigned company which includes budget planning, cash flow and balance sheet forecasts, reviewing payroll, inventory and fixed assets while ensuring statutory and tax compliance. In addition to managing the finance team and creating and implementing policies and procedures.

Key Requirements
  • Accounting Degree with Honours or Audit articles or technical training.
  • Registered Chartered Accountant / Professional Accountant
  • At least 5 years' experience in a senior finance role post articles
  • Proven track record of mentoring, managing and training employees
  • Operational Commercial and Business Awareness,
  • Strategical application of knowledge and skills
  • Excellent skills in Sage Evolution & MS Office, especially Excel;
  • Tax knowledge/audit knowledge/technical skills eg. IFRS
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees the financial operations of the assigned company.
  • Allots funds for capital projects and works with the HOD to ensure they stay within the budget and financial forecast.
  • Serves as a point of contact for banks; arranges, negotiates and facilitates letters of credit.
  • Reviews and submits payroll reports to the payroll team and the HOD before the payment runs are prepared.
  • Ensures the correct journal entry into the accounting system once the payroll is duly approved.
  • Oversees the submission of monthly statutory returns to the local authority.
  • Ensuring the company complies with any additional laws and regulations applicable.
  • Plans and co-ordinates regular stock takes in collaboration with the sales and warehouse teams.
  • Prepares weekly reports on stock levels and obsolete stock to the General Manager or HoD; and prepares a Product Profitability Analysis.
  • Presents the company and the financials at the OPCO meetings.

  • Draws accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material: applies financial principles and numerical techniques to management problems.
  • Emphasizes the need to contribute to the organisation's profitability; makes decisions that enhance the organisation's financial position.
  • Identifies and implements effective processes and procedures for accomplishing work.
